A small girl has caused quite an uproar on the Internet after pictures of her dressed up as Stan Lee at Motor City Comic Con went viral on the Internet. While most websites users reacted positively to the picture, seen below, a small contingent of hardcore Stan Lee fans have taken offense to what they feel is an inaccurate depiction of the Marvel creator.
"Worst. Stan Lee. Ever," wrote StanTheMan29 on StanLeeFanBoards.com. The poster was one of several fans upset by the girl's costume and spent several hours angrily posting about how she was disrespecting Lee and his legacy as the co-creator of many of Marvel's heroes. "By dressing up as Lee, it's like she'd like to see him die of cancer," the commenter said. "If Stan Lee dies tomorrow, I know who I'm going to blame."
"I bet that girl doesn't even know who Stan Lee is," added another commenter. "She's just dressing up to get attention and get hit on by dudes," ignoring that the girl was only in the first grade.
Sadly, the comments come as no surprise, as cosplayers have come under attack in recent months by angry virgins with too much time on their hands. "If you think I'm not going to call her a [redacted] [redacted] with a [redacted] of [redacted] just because she's like 8 years old, you got another thing coming," said one commenter. "I'd make the comments to an 8 year old boy, so it's not sexism."
Other users complained about the girl having the wrong body type to cosplay as Stan Lee. "Stan Lee is a sexy stud of a man," typed SpiderBob, a deranged lunatic. "Not some tiny pansy of a girl. I don't understand why she couldn't just stick to her gender and dress like Steve Ditko or Chris Claremont." The fan then proclaimed that Stan Lee probably didn't like women anyways.
Perhaps the worst comment came when a fan posted an infamous nude pic of Stan Lee laying on a couch. "See all that chest hair?" said MassiveManThing, who proclaimed that he kept a copy of the picture on his person at all times. "I bet that little girl doesn't have an ounce on her chest. I'm sorry, but if I ever see that girl in person, I'll probably punch her in the face."
It's unknown whether the young girl will ever don the costume again, but these fans have warned that there would be consequences. "I definitely plan on making more idiotic comments online," said one fan. "I probably wouldn't say anything in person though. That old guy with her looks like she could beat me up," he said upon seeing the picture below.
