Well, they've finally gone and done it. After a canceled Miramax effort, Warner Bros announced that a live-action movie starring Archibald "Archie" Andrews and his friends from Riverdale will be hitting theater screens in the future.
Directing the movie will be Jason Moore (Pitch Perfect), while the main writing duties will fall to Marvel Comics alum and writer of "Afterlife With Archie" comic, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
The movie will be a coming-of-age story set in present day Riverdale. Aguirre-Sacasa said that "There are parts of the story that I think people will be surprised how dark and real it gets" and also downplayed rumors that it will feature zombies as his comic does.
While this is not the first live-action depiction of Archie (1990's television special Archie: To Riverdale And Back" featured the characters portrayed by actors), it will be the 72 year old character's first big screen live action effort.
No release date for the film was specified.
