Here's a story to wake up to: USA Today has revealed that Mark Waid and James Robinson are writing a new Marvel graphic novel entitled Spider-Man: Family Business, with artwork by Gabrielle Del’Otto. Due to release in spring 2014, the book (set pre-Superior Spider-Man) will explore the history of Peter Parker's secret agent parents and also reveal that Parker has a sister named Teresa, whom Waid describes as "the anti-Parker." The book will pit Spider-Man and his sister against the Kingpin, who is seeking to expand his criminal empire on a global scale.
This appears to be the second in Marvel's push for mainstream bookstore friendly graphic novels, following up on the soon to be released Avengers: Timeless Winter. Waid stated in an interview with USA Today that the graphic novel will have gravitas and is set before the current continuity to allow casual readers to access the book more easily.
