Beta Update Suggests Game Sharing Coming to Steam

Though still in the rumor phase, you can see the evidence for yourself.

If you are one of the users participating in the Steam client beta, you may find some interesting code in the "steamui_english" file.

"SteamUI_JoinDialog_SharedLicense_Title" "Shared game library"
"SteamUI_JoinDialog_SharedLicenseLocked_OwnerText" "Just so you know, your games are currently in use by %borrower%. Playing now will send %borrower% a notice that it's time to quit."
"SteamUI_JoinDialog_SharedLicenseLocked_BorrowerText" "This shared game is currently unavailable. Please try again later or buy this game for your own library."

A question Microsoft has answered many times in recent days to their more DRM-centric service with XBox One and how it relates to Steam is,' will they be offering the types of sales that Steam does?'  Everytime, they have been quick to remind people that Steam doesn't allow you to lend your games out, like you can with XBox One.  If this code is any indication, they may not be able to say that about Steam much longer.

We will update with any official word on this as soon as Valve confirms.

Jeremy was born in a small mountain village of a strange foreign land called Weystvurginea.  Banishment for liberal views saw him spend years wondering the east coast until he decided to bike to California.  When he saw how long a trip it was, he drove instead.  Now he's living it up in a low humidity climate, sometimes working on his photography and when not, he writes for us covering books (by way of his blog: Reading Realms), gaming, tv, movies, comics, conventions in the SoCal area, and creates a weekly webcomic: A Journey Through Skyrim.  If you look for him offline, start in the L.A. area; online start at: www.jeremyshane.info for his profile and all the social networks he's on... or just follow him on twitter, he seems to be on there a lot: @jeremyshane.
