Will Sarah Gadon be replacing Shailene Woodley in Amazing Spider-Man 3 for the part of Mary Jane Watson? MovieWeb seems to think so, and they do have the word "movie" in the name of their website, so it must be true.
We reported yesterday that Mary Jane was being edited out of Amazing Spider-Man 2, but Thanoscopter seemed to believe they would stick with actress Shailene Woodley. Personally, I just don't know how much you can trust the helicopter of an evil villain.
Shailene was apparently cut, to be recast because of her commitment to the young adult novel adaptation: Divergent, leaving her unable to commit to The Amazing Spider-man 3 in the wake of Divergent's possible success.
MovieWeb is citing sources close to production, saying that Mary Jane has already been recast. Sarah Gadon is a Canadian actress and dancer who will be appearing next with Luke Evans in Dracula. Unfortunately, our numerous sources at CubanoReview have yet to confirm, so until they do, or I suppose Sony does, this stays securely in the rumor column.
It is confirmed that Sarah Gadon is going to be in Amazing Spider-man 3, but her role has not yet been mentioned.
Gadon will appear in Amazing Spider-man 2 briefly, though her role hasn't been confirmed, she will not be Mary Jane according to Jeff Sneider:
100% CONFIRMED: Sarah Gadon IS in Amazing Spider-Man 2 briefly. She is NOT playing Mary Jane Watson, who will NOT appear until Part THREE.— Jeff Sneider (@TheInSneider) June 21, 2013
I did not report or confirm whether Shailene will be playing MJ in Part 3, which has NOT started casting. Everything else is speculation.— Jeff Sneider (@TheInSneider) June 21, 2013
