Comixology Bans Own T-Shirt, Cites Concern Over Apple Policies

The digital distributor released a t-shirt for SDCC referencing an erect penis.

Comixology released and then pulled a new promotional t-shirt, citing concerns that Apple or maybe Microsoft might take offense to it. The t-shirt, which read "Is That 40,000 Comics in Your Pocket" on the front and "Or Are You Just Happy to See Us?" on the back, was to have been given away to the first 100 people who visited Comixlogy's booth every day at SDCC.

Unfortunately, since the shirt references an erect penis, the digital comic distributor became worried that the innuendo would somehow violate Apple and/or Microsoft's terms of use.  "We simply don't know what Apple and Microsoft's terms of use are," said one executive.  "We haven't read them."  Comixology previously pulled a number of comics due to their questionable content, including Saga #12, which featured two postage sized stamp sized depictions of gay blowjobs. Saga #12 was later unpulled after it was discovered that neither Apple nor Microsoft had a problem with the content.

Instead, Comixology will simply release t-shirts with a screen printing of the explicit heterosexual sex scene found in Saga #11, which tastefully hid the male character's penis inside the female character's vagina.  "We feel that this shirt is just as family friendly as the other t-shirt, and probably doesn't violate any terms of uses from any of the company's that we use to make lots of money," said a Comixology spokesperson.
