Two sequels are not enough.

Not content to delay Battle Angel Alita until 2017, James Cameron has scheduled another movie to his string of Avatar movies.
Cameron has previously said that he planned to have two sequels to the original Avatar, but recently this has grown to three. The three movies are planned to be shot simultaneously starting in 2014 and Josh Friedman, Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, and Shane Salern have been hired to help with the screenplays.
"In writing the new films, I've come to realize that Avatar's world, story and characters have become even richer than I anticipated, and it became apparent that two films would not be enough to capture everything I wanted to put on screen."
The sequel to Avatar should land in theaters in December 2016, with the following movies arriving in the same months in 2017 and 2018.
