Marvel's upcoming television series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. was the subject of a press conference at the Television Critics Association press tour. The event assembled the main cast and producers of the show: Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson), Iain De Caestecker (Leo Fitz), Brett Dalton (Grant Ward), Ming-Na Wen (Melinda May), Chloe Bennet (Skye), Elizabeth Henstridge (Jemma Simmons), Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen, Jeffrey Bell, and Jeph Loeb.
A new trailer for the series was shown (not yet available online) and there was a question and answer session in which no real news was revealed. It was confirmed (again) that the series takes place after the Avengers and Iron Man 3 movies. The full explanation for Coulson's return will be strung out over the course of several episodes.
The show will have an international flavor and they are hoping for some international locations as well. Jed says that they will be a new challenge every week, and that they'd try new things each week while trying to maintain an overarching mythology. Older brother Josh, said that it won't be a new hero each week. It could be a device, mystery or anything. They will be having heartfelt stories, spy stories and "everything".
Gregg also revealed a Twitter promotion where if folks Tweet enough, pieces of a new poster will be revealed piece by piece. The completed poster can be seen below.
Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. comes to ABC Tuesdays at 8:00 p.m. ET starting September 24.
