Disney has entered the graphic novel market. Disney Book Group, a publishing arm of Disney that seems to mainly publish children's book tie-ins to various television and movie properties, has announced Space Mountain, a new original graphic novel written by Bryan Q Miller (Batgirl, Smallville: Season 11) with art by Kelley Jones (Batman, Sandman). Here's an early inked page of the graphic novel, which won't be released til next May.
Well, that looks fantastic.
The graphic novel will feature two young cadets of the Magellan Space Academy who are chosen to go on a mission into the future. Predictably, the mission goes awry, and the cadets have to find a way to escape from Space Mountain before the universe is destroyed.
Don't be surprised to see this get nominated for a few Eisners in 2015.
