After weeks of speculation, fans of the Marvel Movieverse learned yesterday that Vin Diesel would be voicing Groot in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy movie, at least according to a rumor we are deciding to treat as absolute fact because we are not on the short list of four websites considered to be actual comics pressGuardians of the Galaxy is a space adventure starring a team of unlikely heroes banding together to save the universe. Diesel's character, a giant, talking tree, is famous for having a one sentence vocabulary, or something like that - again, we're not going to fact check.

We asked Diesel to join us for an exclusive interview, and he responded: "I am Groot."

Oh yeah. We should mention that, to prepare for the role, Diesel has decided to take the method actor approach, and will remain in the Groot character until filming is complete.

Outhouse: Hi Vin, thanks for joining us. You don't mind if we call you Vin, do you?

Vin Diesel: I am Groot.

OH: Excellent. So tell us how you came to play Groot in Guardians of the Galaxy? Was the Rock unavailable?

VD: I am Groot.

OH: You could easily star in a superhero movie. Why take a role in an ensemble cast?

VD: I am Groot.

OH: Oh, are you a fan of the comics?

VD: I am Groot.

OH: Yeah, we liked that part too. What would you say is the most challenging aspect of playing a computer animated alien tree?

VD: I am Groot.

OH: Hey, were you, like, totally wasted when you agreed to do the Pacifier?

VD: I am Groot.

OH: I understand. Got any juicy gossip from the movie set that we can share with our readers?

VD: I am Groot!

OH: No way!

VD: I am Groot.

OH: With a donkey?!

VD: I am Groot.

OH: That's hardcore. Thanks for joining us, Vin. it's been a real pleasure.

VD: I am Groot.

OH: Oh stop. I bet you say that to all the websites.

VD: I am Groot.

OH: Your favorite? Especially my articles? *blushes*

VD: I am Groot!

OH: An Eisner? Maybe next year.

VD: I am Groot.

OH: Thanks, that really means a lot.

VD: I am Groot.

OH: You too. And hey, sorry about calling you wooden yesterday.

VD: I am Groot.

That was awfully nice of Mr. Diesel to take time out of his busy schedule to chat with us. Guardians of the Galaxy, directed by James Gunn and starring Zoe Saldana, Chris Pratt, the wrestler Batista, Michael Rooker, Karren Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Benicio del Toro, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, and our new best friend, Vin Diesel, hits theaters in 2014.
