If you're picking up a Villains Month comic from DC, you might notice something different about the covers. No, it's not that they're made of super-rare lenticular plastic, it's that the creators' names have been left off the covers. That's right, DC failed to credit a single creator on the covers of this week's Villains Month.
At least one high profile penciller is pretty pissed about it, too.
Not Crediting their Creators on the cover of these Villains Month's comics is UNACCEPTABLE, contemptuous, shame on you DCcomics! :(— Yanick Paquette (@YanickPaquette) September 4, 2013
It is the Hard work of these Creators that gave all value, if any, to these book. DC removing cover credit is a scandalous move.— Yanick Paquette (@YanickPaquette) September 4, 2013
@TheBurnham yeah but that's no excuse.Credits are not on the art. Cover design is always a last minute business.remember these arrow banners— Yanick Paquette (@YanickPaquette) September 4, 2013
As Chris Burnham noted, the move was probably due to DC needing extra time to produce the 3D covers and not knowing how many of their creators would walk off books by the time Villains Month was involved. However, the fact that DC couldn't even add credits to the 2D versions is pretty embarassing.
