Image Comics Gloats About Victories at Harvey Awards

The company is considering legally changing it's name to Image Home of Six Harvey Award Winning Saga Comics Inc.

The Harvey Awards took place at Baltimore Comic Con this weekend, and one thing was made very clear by the results: everyone loves Saga. Saga and its creators, Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples, took home six Harveys, including Best New Series, Best Continuing or Limited Series, Best Series By a Creator Named After an Office Supply, and Best Series to Feature Controversial Scenes of Gay Blowjobs.

"We're really proud of these accomplishments," said Image Publisher Erik Larsen at the Harvey Awards after-party as Dark Horse Editor in Chief Scott Allie shambled past, staring at his feet, refusing to make eye contact. "Six awards! We really deserved it."

"I mean, companies who won one or two awards should be proud too," he explained as IDW Editor in Chief Chris Ryall sobbed quietly in the corner. "Not 'six awards' proud, but hey, it's nice just to be nominated."

To celebrate, Image sent out the following press release announcing the victories:

SAGA Honored With Six Harvey Awards
Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Saples win Best Series, Best New Series, Best Writer, Best Artist, Best Colorist and
Best Single Issue
This past weekend at the Baltimore Comic-Con, the annual Harvey Awards were given out, honoring excellence in the comic book industry.  Hosted by Bill Willingham, the Harvey Awards featured such celebrity presenters as Neal Adams, Stan Sakai, Joe Hill and many others.  Image Comics was represented at the Harveys with nominations for SKULLKICKERS, REVIVAL and SAGA.  As the awards were given out, it was clear that the night would belong to SAGA.

SAGA and it's creators, Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples were the recipients of SIX Harvey Awards in total:
  • Best News Series
  • Best Continuing or Limited Series
  • Best Single Issue - SAGA #1
  • Best Artist - Fiona Staples
  • Best Writer - Brian K. Vaughan
  • Best Colorist - Fiona Staples

Image Comics would like to congratulate all of the nominees and winners of the 2013 Harvey Awards, and would like to especially congratulate Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples.

Everyone at Image, along with Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples would like to thank the fans, comics professionals and retailers who voted for the Harvey Awards.

The Outhouse has also obtained exclusive footage of Larsen singing a special message to the rest of the industry at the after-party after consuming too many mojitos:
