Source: Worlds Collide In New TRANSFORMERS/G.I. JOE Ongoing Series!
The war will be unending starting next Summer as IDW announces their new Transformers/G.I. Joe Ongoing series. Both the Transformers and G.I. Joe are now worldwide phenomena owned by Hasbro. The series will be stand-alone and is described as "cosmic" in scale. It seems it won't all be punching and shooting as co-writer Tom Scioli (Godland) describes:
"We're asking big questions. Is war an inevitable condition of life? What is free will? What is the future of man and machine as the line between them becomes increasingly blurred? The G.I. JOE team is trained to deal with dangerous situations and this is the ultimate test of their training. The TRANSFORMERS characters push the boundaries of what shapes life can take in this infinite universe of ours. Perhaps it will be a machine that teaches us what it is to be human."
Details are light at this point, but it will be Tom Scioli doing double duty on art and writing, along with co-writer John Barber (Transformers: Robots in Disguise). Time will tell how this version will differ from the previous Marvel and Dreamwave versions, but one difference is that IDW is stating that this will be an ongoing title. We should hear more about this before it's Summer 2014 debut, stay tuned.
