Yesterday, the TMNT Season 2 Panel took place at NYCC. Attending the panel was Ciro Nieli (executive producer), Brandon Aumen (head writer), Greg Cipes (Michaelengelo), Rob Paulsen (Donatello) and Hoon Lee (Splinter). The entire one-hour Season 2 premiere was show (which just so happened to debut today for us lucky).
Here are the tid-bits of what will happen in Season 2:
- Yet another figure from the classic Playmates Action Figure line from the 80s will make his animated debut.. PIZZA FACE!!! The episode involving him will have Don, Leo, and Raph under his control forcing Mikey to battle his brothers and save them.
- Near the end of the season there will be an episode set entirely in Dimension X. Nieli then went into before that there'd be even more inter-dimension issues resulting in a rift that will link this universe and the 1980s cartoon one! Plus Rob Paulsen will talk to himself given he voiced 80s Raph on the show. Nieli then went on saying the appearance will be just a cameo and nothing more.
- April's psychic abilities that were revealed in the Season 1 finale will be touched on. A character named Kurtzman (voiced by Robert Forester) will be introduced. A scene was shown with Kurtzman explaining to April and the Turtles of the Kraang have been trying to terra-form Earth for years (and not just recently) and needed a specific brand of DNA to succeed in their plans. He then shows April a baby picture (presumably of her) which shocks the young girl.
- The final bit of news is Shredder's role in Season 2. He'll be going on a spirtual quest and leaving Karai in charge of the Foot Clan. On his quest, Saki will meet Tiger Claw resulting in the later being sent to go after the former's rival, Splinter. An animaticis shown of the Splinter vs. Tiger Claw fight.
The panel ends.
