Marvel to Publish Neil Gaiman's Miracleman #25 Plus Full Run (UPDATED)

After what seems like ages since they announced they had the rights in 2009, Marvel will finally publish some old Miracleman stuff that people actually want to read.

At Marvel's Cup O' Joe panel today, mushy writer Neil Gaiman announced that Marvel would finally be bringing his Miracleman run back into print, including the never published Miracleman #25, which was completed years ago but has never been seen because comic book creators such as Gaiman and Todd McFarlane have been fighting like babies over the rights for years. It's not clear yet exactly what format the comics will be published in, but it looks like it will be more than one volume, if not single issues or a combination of the two, since Joe Quesada said that the return would "begin" in January and culminate in the release of Miracleman #25.

To celebrate, Joe Quesada drew a Miracleman cover which, in a rare move for the Marvel Chief Creative Officer, does not feature a character who looks like he's taking a poop, although it is highly possible that Miracleman is indeed constipated in the image, which you can view below. In response to the news, another former Miracleman writer, Alan Moore, reportedly cast a curse on everyone involved.

UPDATE: Marvel also released a bunch of promo art by Quesada, Skottie Young, and Leinil Yu, which we've posted below.

Also, respected industry analyst and Outhouse poster Victorian Squid speculates that the reprinted material will include Alan Moore's work as well, but that Moore's name cannot be mentioned due to an agreement with the creator.
