A solid creative team brings us New Warriors from Marvel in February!

At the Superior Spider-Man panel at New York Comic Con today, Marvel announced a new New Warriors series from creators Chris Yost and Marcus To. The book will star Justice, Nova, Speedball, Scarlet Spider and Sun Girl, and was compared to Marv Wolfman's Teen Titans by editor Sana Amanat. It looks like it may feature the High Evolutionary as a villain.

Yost and To are a very solid creative team, which we learned on the short-lived Red Robin series that preceded DC's New 52 reboot. It's good to see them working together again, even if it's on a series spinning out of a Zeb Wells book (Nova).

UPDATE: An interview with Yost on Newsarama provides more info. As stated at the panel, the series will bring together "mutants, Atlanteans, Deviants, clones, alien half-breeds, and magical beings," all of whom have been targeted in a new kind of war. Yost gives some more details on the motivation of the team:

Justice isn't sure the New Warriors are needed in an Avengers world, especially given how tainted the name became after Stamford. Speedball needs the New Warriors more than ever as he struggles with his personal demons. And Nova… he's the new kid on the block, curious to be on a team with people who knew the previous Nova.

And on some of the new characters:

Sun Girl, a human. Haechi, an Inhuman. Aracely, a Demigod. Water Snake, an Atlantean. And a Clone by the name of Scarlet Spider.
