In a move sure to cause déjà vu, Beware the Batman has been pulled from its Saturday morning line-up by Cartoon Network, without warning. The news comes from TV news blogger Nick & More, who tweeted the following earlier today:
In what seems like DC Nation déjà vu, new episodes of Beware the Batman have been pulled from Cartoon Network next weekend (repeats too).— NICK AND MORE (@nickandmore) October 20, 2013
So far neither Comcast or TvBytheNumbers have updated their scheduling to go with the news (both lists a new episode "Attraction" to air). The move isn't a new one for viewers of DC animated shows. However, the show had been languishing with sub-par ratings in it's time-slot (World's Finest reported that the first three episodes of the show haven't even matched it's predecessor: Green Lantern: The Animated Series' ratings).
Having seen this before, fans will need to ask some tough questions. What will become of the show? Will Cartoon Network do what they did with Young Justice/Green Lantern: The Animated Series and wait three months to air new episodes? Or will the wait be longer, as it was in the case of Young Justice Season 1? Regardless, ten of the commissioned twenty-six have aired so far. So Cartoon Network is at least committed to that many episodes with no information so far on whether the show will be granted a second season.
Whatever the case, one thing is for certain. Teen Titans: Go! is currently still around and doesn't appear to be getting the same treatment as it's animated DC compatriot. We'll keep you updated on this developing story.
