Comic book fandom was shaken to its core this weekend when a press release from Marvel Comics circulated on the internet, claiming that the ending to Marvel's super-mega-crossover event, Infinity, would send shockwaves throughout the Marvel Universe for years to come. The bold claims from Marvel come as something of a surprise to readers, who have never heard these kinds of promises before, and certainly not about every single crossover and event comic that mainstream comic book publishers have put out over the last decade.

"I was reading some of my favorite comic book sites over the weekend, looking to see if anything exciting was happening in the comic book industry, when I came across this press release from Marvel advertising Infinity #6," Roland Adams, a comic book fan, told The Outhouse in an exclusive interview. "I figured I'd give it a read, you know, just to pass the time, but when I read that the issue would be an eye-popping epilogue that'll have readers buzzing about the future of the Marvel Universe, I was totally caught off guard."

"It's not the sort of thing you hear, for instance, in every single press release a major comic book publisher puts out about any comic, you know?" he explained. "I literally fell out of my chair, and my life may never be the same again, because I think I may have permanently injured my neck."

"Ouch," he added, rubbing the back of his head.

Adams isn't the only one to feel the earth-shattering consequences of Marvel's press release. Gloria Harris, a longtime Marvel reader, called Marvel's announcement "the most explosive press release in the history of press releases," and expressed plans to brace herself for the shock of a lifetime when the comic hits stores in November.

"I've asked my friends and family to check in on me the day it comes out," Harris told us. "Just to make sure I'm okay, you know? I'm pretty sure I'll be able to handle the cataclysmic conclusion to what’s been called Marvel’s strongest event series in years, if only because I plan to take a massive dose of Xanax before I read it, but just in case, I want to make sure someone can get me the appropriate medical and psychiatric care."

All over the internet comics community, fans were putting safeguards in place to cope with "the Heart-Stopping Conclusion to the Biggest Comic Event of the Year." Reader Paul Bell revealed plans to read the comic in parts, stopping every page or so to breath into a paper bag. Another fangirl, Shelia Scott, will read the book while lying down, surrounded by very soft pillows, in case she should fall unconcious and start having seizures when Earth’s Mightiest Heroes make their final stand against the destructive alien race known as the Builders.

"We're asking all staff to be on standby at the hospital," promised Dr. Brian Wetzel, an emergency room physician at a major hospital who heard about the press release from concerned colleagues. "I'm surprised that Marvel would release the final epic chapter in the blockbuster comic event of the year, brought to you by the star studded creative team of Jonathan Hickman and Jim Cheung without thoroughly exploring the effects it might have on an unsuspecting readership using scientific tests conducted under strictly monitored conditions."

"Have they lost their minds?" Wetzel wondered, shaking his head sadly. "It's irresponsible."

Infinity #6 will be in stores on November 20th. Readers who are pregnant, have high blood pressure, or suffer from heart conditions are advised not to even look at the cover without consulting a licensed physician.

Here's the press release:

A World On The Brink – Your First Look At INFINITY #6!

Don’t Miss the Heart-Stopping Conclusion to the Biggest Comic Event of the Year!

It’s all come down to this! Marvel is proud to present your first look at Infinity #6 – the final epic chapter in the blockbuster comic event of the year, brought to you by the star studded creative team of Jonathan Hickman and Jim Cheung! Earth isn’t the only “Avengers World” anymore! Races from all across the galaxy now stand united in an Avengers Universe! Only with their combined might can Earth’s Mightiest Heroes make their final stand against the destructive alien race known as the Builders.

Now, as the Avengers’ astronomic altercation to save an entire universe draws to its epic conclusion, the greatest threat has arrived at their own front door! Earth has been laid siege by Thanos, the galaxy’s most ruthless marauder. The Avengers have returned home to their foremost fear – a broken and destroyed planet. Attilan lays in ruins as Thanos makes his final play to capture his wayward son Thane. But what will remain of Earth once he catches his prey?

"Will the Avengers cavalry arrive in time to save Earth?  And indeed, what will be left on Earth to save?" says Marvel Comics Editor In Chief Axel Alonso.  "We promised an epic ending, and we're going to deliver one — along with an eye-popping epilogue that'll have readers buzzing about the future of the Marvel Universe."

This is the one you’ve been waiting for! All-out war between the heroes of Earth and the forces of Thanos – and the results will send shockwaves through the Marvel Universe for years to come!
