Pulp Hero The Avenger Being Developed by The CW

Network develops tv show based on hero that has nothing to do with said hero.

Deadline is reporting that Neal Baer is working with CW network to develop the next superhero show headed to the small screen: The Avengers.  The original series centered around character Richard Bensen avenging the death of his daughter and wife, but the new series has been described as an updated biopunk version of the story.

Written by Deric Hughes and Benjamin Raab (Warehouse 13), it tells the story of Alice Benson, a young woman who, in the wake of her parents’ murder, discovers she possesses a superpower as a result of genetic bio-hacking which allows her to transform her appearance at will. Alice will use her face-altering talents to investigate the mystery of her parents’ deaths and uncover the origins of her strange ability.

So if you were thinking cool pulp drama headed to TV by the title, think again.  Probably more like teen angst-y drama based on a property they just bought for the title.  Now, I'm not even sure why I used an image of The Avenger for this article.  It would probably have been easier to find biopunk woman than a decently sized image of the actual Avenger.
