"Masters of the Universe" Director Thoughts on Current "Masters" Movie Relaunch

The director of the 1987 film gives his thoughts on the current attempt to make one.

Comicbook.Movie (specifically Russ Burlingame) recently interviewed Gary Goddard (along with Roger Lay, Jr who is his collaborator on Phoenix Rising: The Return of Captain Power relaunch. Yes, they're bringing the classic series back), the director of 1987 Masters of the Universe, and asked him about what would probably be the greatest decision ever for the project and no doubt end any of the current woes that are troubling the He-Man film (along with a tease of an idea he has to go with the franchise):

ComicBook.com: You directed Masters of the Universe, so what do you think of the fact that once again, that property is a going concern?

Goddard: I think it’s fantastic. I think they should bring Frank Langella back as Skeletor, though; there’s no use going anywhere else. He is the best for that role!

Lay: Gary had a great idea for how they should do Masters again.

Goddard: I’m not going to say that [in an interview]; I’m not going to give that idea away!

Lay: Right, but I’m saying he still thinks about that.

Goddard: I have a cool idea. I think that I have a fantastic approach to that movie and if the appropriate person finally gets there, if they’re not happy with the script, I’ve got a great idea. But regardless, I’m anxious to see what they do.

Well, it should be noted that the movie is currently without a director, and given that this reporter is a HUGE fan of said movie and the performance of said actor mentioned...  Maybe bringing Goddard back to the franchise but also having Langella reprising his role as Skeletor wouldn't be a bad thing at all.

They could do worse, like hiring Michael Bay who's currently destroying TWO beloved 80s franchises next year in TMNT and Transformers: Age of Extinction. So to remedy that agonizing thought (yes this also means that once again I'm gonna post a clip from the the greatest and most Underrated Comic Movie Villain of all time):
