Once director Zack Snyder confirmed that Lex would be involved in some capacity in the next Man of Steel movie, rumors as to who would play the would-be hero that will try and save us from the city-destroying alien: Superman, have started flying around the internet. Of course like all fan casting they rely mostly on two angles: First, the actor must be well known. If fanboys cast movies, unknown actors would never get big jobs. And second, the actor must be bald. If we have learned anything, it's that it is impossible to imagine someone without hair.
The latest for Luthor's casting is actor Terry O'Quinn (the guy that played Locke on Lost). I thought about sending out an email to the source for the news, but imagine the discussion would have gone like this either way:
The Outhousers: Can you give us a hint to your source?
Superman Super Site: A source? We said it's just a rumor.
OH: Right, where did the rumor come from?
SSS: Nowhere, it's a rumor.
OH: So, you made it up.
SSS: Of course not, Terry O'Quinn is a bald actor, of course he is up for the role.
OH: The same source for the rumors that the actor from Breaking Bad was up for the role?
SSS: Bryan Cranston? Sure, that's common sense, he's bald and played a great villainous role.
OH: So, if we told you the dad from Malcom in the Middle was up for the role, what would you think?
SSS: (laughs) That's silly. A guy that played a goofy dad in a sitcom? (laughs)
OH: That's Bryan Cranston.
SSS: No. He has hair.
OH: You do realize hair can be shaved off?
SSS: It can?... I'm not sure you are right about that.
OH: Also, don't you think the movie will be overcrowded with villains if they put both Lex Luthor and Superman in it?
SSS: Wait... What?
I have serious doubts about O'Quinn in the role of Luthor. He is too old for the new younger Man of Steel and haven't seen the rumors on sites that at least usually have leaks from people working on production. I eagerly await the next bald actor "rumored" to be up for the role. Of course, seeing the ugly mug rumored to be up for the role of Nightwing in the movie (Adam Driver) doesn't make me think much of the professionals casting either.
