DC Comics released the variant cover for Superman/Wonder Woman #3 today, showing a topless Superman sparkling in space like a Twilight vampire (guess DC wasn't kidding when they compared the series to Twilight). While The Outhouse has made fun of Liefeld before, we have to admit, this is better than his usual… what's that? It's not? Oh...
Sorry folks, it turns out that this is not a drawing by Rob Liefeld. Frank Quitely has taken some flack lately for his slow output, but in the case of this cover, we think that… what? Not him either?
Dear readers, we apologize. It turns out that this cover is actually Greg Land tracing Rob Liefeld drawing a Frank Quitely tribute. All things considered, it's pretty… oh come on! Really?!
For fuck's sake. It's Guillem March. It's an honest mistake on our part, since the shirtless Superman doesn't have his back contorted in an impossible manner so as to show off both his tits and his ass at the same time, and Wonder Woman is dressed modestly (by his standards) and does not appear to be double jointed.
Damn. And we thought Liefeld was finally taking some anatomy lessons.
Here's the cover:
Sorry, that's the Catwoman scoliosis awareness cover. Here's the real cover:
Dammit, that's the movie poster for Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1!
Ah, here we go:
There, that's much better. Notice post-coital Superman, who must have expended a lot of "energy" here judging by the super-stain on his pants, is absorbing solar radiation to "recharge," while Wonder Woman appears to have visited Michael Jackson's plastic surgeon for a nose job, and had her eyes replaced with those of a Japanese anime sex doll.
Well done, DC, if that's what you were going for. If it weren't for double jeopardy, we'd reset the counter for the sparkly Superman alone.
