Marvel announced that Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson have officially joined the cast of Avengers: Age of Ultron as the brother-sister pair of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Olsen is best known for being the poor Olsen sister with better acting chops, while Taylor-Johnson played that one character in Kick-Ass that you hoped would die in a gruesome fashion because he was so annoying. The pair will also be starring in Legendary's remake of Godzilla, which will provide ample fodder for the creepy Quicksilver/Scarlet Witch shippers on Tumblr that will be sure to pop up.
While most rumor sites pointed to Olsen and Taylor-Johnson as playing the B-list Avengers, it remains unclear how they'll be used in the film. Due to licensing rights with Fox, Marvel can't address the origin of their powers (mutant genes) or their father (Magneto) in their films. In addition, Fox has cast Evan Peters as their own version of Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
In a brief statement, Marvel announced the casting. "We look forward to not mentioning how the pair got their powers, who their father is, or really anything else about their past, because Fox has the rights to all of that," the studio said. "However, we're really excited about Olsen's and Taylor-Johnson's chemistry together, and feel that they'll really bring a whole new meaning to 'brother-sister relationship'."
Avengers: Age of Ultron hits theatres May 1, 2015.
