Tom Taylor Talks “Earth 2”

Taylor teases what's coming up for the war-torn Earth 2

Over at CBR, Tom Taylor speaks about what it was like taking over “Earth 2” from James Robinson, what plans he has for this title, why he resurrected Lois Lane, and what it’s like to work with artist, Nicola Scott.
One of the most important things he had to do first was make sure that everything that James Robinson had already setup was kept in place. This included the return of Superman. He also addressed the differences between the Earth 2 Superman and Taylor’s “Injustice” Superman:
Our "Injustice" Superman still thinks he's doing the right thing. He's doing things he believes with his heart in the right place. He's actually still trying to the save the world. Whereas the Superman we have on Earth 2 is a zealot for Darkseid. As you've probably seen, he is literally insanely evil.

Writing Superman this way was difficult for Taylor as he is a huge Superman fan. This also ties into why he chose to bring back Lois Lane as the new Red Tornado. He sees Lois as a beacon of hope for the devastated Earth 2. Lois will also have to deal with the trauma of being resurrected in a robotic body, immediately facing her father’s death, and then having to find out her husband is now a mass murderer.
Lois will have a big moment in issue #20. Taylor teases that the person she’s talking to is actually the key to this big moment and that this person will have huge ramifications for Earth 2 and the DC Universe.

On working with fellow Australian Nicola Scott:
Nic and I get along insanely well. Any convention we did together, we'd hang out. We talk way too much and we get along just like a house on fire, so it was amazing to land on this book together.

What’s coming up in Earth 2:
- Pay close attention to Dr. Fate’s babbling (after being beaten by Superman) in issue #17. These are hints to upcoming characters and events.
-  More revelations about the new Batman at the end of this week's issue #18

- The mysterious woman on the cover of issue #20 will make her first appearance in this week's issue #18
- By issue #19 Superman’s full intentions and actions will become clear.
 - Batman's full origin will be revealed in next January's Earth 2 Annual #2

About the Author - IvCNuB4

IvCNuB4 likes to maintain an air of mystery by never publicly revealing his true name unless you are one of the four lucky Outhouse posters he has PM'd it to. A life-long Chicago native, he was introduced to comics by his older brother's vast collection of Silver Age issues. When he is not at his day job as an IT geek or making the most of Chicago's three months of incredible summer, he can found spending way too much time with his very large, very loud Italian family. You will never find him on the likes of Facebook or Twitter as he scoffs at the necessity of most forms of social media.
