Reserve Your Place On The Space Battleship Yamato Today

We're off to outer space starting February 2014

The news that Star Blazers 2199 (aka. Space Battleship Yamato 2199 in Japan) would be making it to our shores was announced this past April. Now we have word of when the series will be arriving on our shores and how you can get on board.

Pre-orders for the Blu-Ray/DVD editions of the series is schedule to start today December 19, 2013 via the starblazers.com website. The only way to get the series in USA stores is via Books Kinokuniya stores (for now). The first volume will be available on February 27, 2014 and subsequent volumes will be available every other month concluding in a 6th volume scheduled for December 2014. Each volume will have 4 episodes, except for the final volume which has 6. The retail price is $34.99 for the DVDs and $44.99 for Blu-Ray with English and Spanish subtitles.

Star Blazers 2199 tells the tale of journey of the Space Battleship Yamato and her crew as they travel to the distant Iscandar and their battles with the alien Garmillas to save Earth. It's a reimagining of the first Yamato anime series which debuted in the mid/late 1970s was known in some countries outside Japan as Star Blazers.
