I'm sure the actor doesn't want to be type-cast, but I'm not sure I could see him as a hero after Breaking Bad. The character Todd he played had to be one of the most evil characters to grace the big or small screen, simply because of the emotionless way the character was written and, of course, played by Jesse Plemons. But The Wrap says he is in the final stretch of snagging a role in Star Wars: Episode VII.
Plemons has already taped an audition that was well-received by those involved in the casting process, and he’ll be flying in to Los Angeles from Austin, Texas for a second audition that will bring him face-to-face with Abrams.
Plemons does look a bit like he could be a Skywalker, but whether or not he'll play hero or villain is unknown. Abrams is close to casting the part, so we should have official (or unofficial, but certain-ish) news for some of the major roles soon.
