Flash TV Series Casts Iris West

Candice Patton will play the Flash's love interest.

Deadline is reporting that Candice Patton will play Iris West in the upcoming Flash television series.  Patton has appeared on several television series, including Heroes and The Game, but this is her first starring role.  Deadline describes The Flash's Iris as "Barry's fast-talking, quick-witted best friend."  Jesse L. Martin will play Iris's father.  So far, there's been a surprising lack of racism involving CW's decision to cast a black woman as Iris West, a traditionally white character in the comic, but we expect that to change in about 30 seconds as soon as the Internet realizes what's going on.
