Misogynist Comments Claim Elizabeth Olson Not Attractive Enough for Scarlet Witch Costume

Continuing the trend of questioning the "hotness" of any woman cast in a superhero movie, new comments suggest the Avengers: Age of Ultron actress can't pull off the classic Scarlet Witch costume.

It's the same old tune. Every time an actress is cast in a popular superhero movie, misogynist fanboys on the internet start complaining that she isn't "hot" enough to play the character, usually based on impossible expectations set by the reality-defying anatomy of comic book superheroines in their skintight costumes. Well, Elizabeth Olsen (younger sister of Mary Kate and Ashley) is set to play The Scarlet Witch in the upcoming Avengers sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and as the movie is ready to start filming in Johannesburg, the sexist comments have begun anew.

But, in a shocking twist, this time, they're coming from Elizabeth Olsen herself!

My favourite piece is my secrecy cloak that prevents anyone from seeing what I’m wearing. There’s a hood, and a robe – it protects the image! I don’t think Joss ever would have hired me, honestly, if he wanted me to wear those outfits; I am not a professional athlete and nor am I a model. Wearing those costumes wouldn’t be fun for anyone who wasn’t those things. He already had a different idea. It respects and involves the comic-book character but it’s different, more rooted. It’s for someone today. Well, if someone walked around wearing what she wore in the comics, people would stop and say, ‘What the hell… she thinks she’s a superhero!’

Wow! Shame on you, Elizabeth Olsen. You need to join the rest of us in the 21st century and stop objectifying Elizabeth Olsen. She's a human being, goddamn it, not a fetish doll, and she deserves to be treated with respect. So squeeze your booty into that red leather bikini and advance the cause of... wait a minute, we're doing this completely wrong, aren't we?

Oooooooh. Yeah, so great news guys, Elizabeth Olsen is going to wear a new costume in Avengers 2: Age of Ultron. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Girl power!
