Source: Monjo pens HBO pilot, Farscape movie
Oh, Farscape, how this reporter loves you so. For five years you entertained me until the Sci-Fi Channel (or SyFy as they're known now) pulled the plug on you at the worst possible time with the most rage-filled of cliffhanger series finales EVER. Though you did fix the mistake with the two-part mini-series Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars. Well, now there it's frelling Farscape getting a movie spinoff!!!
The universe and characters were so rich, and I've come to miss them. Yes, series co-creator Rockne S. O’Bannon went back to the universe in the comics from BOOM! Studios, but it just didn't scratch that itch fully (plus I wasn't fond of the new alien antagonists introduced in it). Well, former series writer Justin Monjo (he wrote "Liars, Guns, & the Money Part 3: Plan B," which featured probably the series most epic gunfight, and "The Choice," which dealt with the fallout of Aeryn Sun dealing with losing someone VERY close to her and the return of someone in her past she so didn't wish to meet again, so yes, Monjo knows his Farscape) is returning. Also returning is the other co-creator of the series (and director of said mini-series), Brian Henson. Here's the official blurb from the originator of the news If.com.au:
The prolific Monjo is also writing the screenplay for Farscape, a movie spin-off of the sci-fi series that ran on the Nine Network and the Sci-Fi Channel in the US, for Jim Henson Productions, to be directed by Brian Henson.
We'll keep an eye on this story and see if anything more develops from it. Until then, enjoy the intro and the best reason to watch this show, the deliciously evil Scorpius (played by Wayne Prygram):
