Last month, The Outhouse reported on the whitewashing of two black characters by DC Comics when new versions of Connor Hawke and Onyx were introduced into the Nu52 as apparently white characters. Hawke, previously of mixed race, and Onyx, previously black, appeared looking a little pale back in February:
Well, Onyx appeared again this week, and it seems that someone took complaints about DC's non-traditional way of celebrating Black History Month to heart, because Onyx's skin color has become notably darker:
So, all's well that ends well, right?
The coloring changes to Onyx has sparked outcry amongst racists and idiots who claim that turning Onyx black is a pandering publicity stunt that ruins the character, pointing out that the changes are extra offensive due to their coming so close to St. Patrick's Day, known worldwide as the whitest of all holidays.
"I'm not against more characters who were formerly black and then were white and are now black again," explained a racist, "but I wish DC would just make a new black then white then black character instead of messing with an old one."
"Being black and then turning white when reintroduced in a rebooted universe is an important part of Onyx's character," insisted a moron. "I'm not racist per se, but I just think that white characters are better."
The Outhouse attempted to ask an Irish person for comment on the matter, but, for some unknown reason, they were unreceptive to our requests.
"I'm not goin' to give yer wee bonny site a quote," said pale Irishman Patty O'Hooligan in a high pitched, slurred Irish accent. "You'll just turn me into a caricature!"
Stay tuned to The Outhouse as we continue to break down racial barriers with our in depth reporting.
