Third time's the charm, AMIRITE?
DC announced Star Spangled War Stories, a new ongoing series in the vein of G.I. Combat and Men of War. Written by Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, the series will star G.I. Zombie, an undead soldier that has fought for America during several wars. According to Newsarama, who broke the story, the series will be set in the modern day and will see G.I. Zombie fight domestic terrorists. Scott Hampton was announced as the artist for the series.
While we here at the Outhouse are fans of Palmiotti and Gray's All-Star Western, I do wonder why DC has decided to go a third round with the war genre, especially since G.I. Combat featured stories by Palmiotti and Gray. But hey, we're not in charge of DC and we've long since given up on trying to understand their decision process. We'll just hope that mixing zombies, terrorists and the modern day will make a great comic that has a long and fulfilling life in stores.
