YOU GET A SPIDER-MAN! YOU GET A SPIDER-MAN! YOU GET A SPIDER-MAN!

YOU GET A SPIDER-MAN! YOU GET A SPIDER-MAN! YOU GET A SPIDER-MAN!

In case you haven’t figured it out yet, this article is about a lot of Spider-Men.

Last week sometime, Marvel.com unveiled a PG teaser of an upcoming unnamed (at the time) Spider-Man project that we here at The Outhouse ignored due to not really wanting to go through all the bother to become an unpaid commercial for Marvel like some people we know.

That being said, now that Marvel has had its phone call with the “big sites” and told them what to report and how to make transcriptions look like interviews, it seems that they have released the uncensored version to unwashed masses; it looks like we have something to report on.

In order to better communicate what Spider-Verse is all about The Outhouse called upon national treasure, and friend of the site, Oprah Winfrey, to summarize Marvel’s “Next Big Thing” press call that The Outhouse was totally invited to:

Oprah: YOU GET A SPIDER-MAN! YOU GET A SPIDER-MAN! YOU GET A SPIDER-MAN!

There’s no way that will get annoying. Let’s move on to CBR’s write up:

Call began with the first details: Starting in November, Slott and Olivier Coipel are bringing "every Spider-Man from every universe together for the first time." The story starts in "Amazing Spider-Man" #9, and continues in that book and other yet-to-be-revealed titles. The story will be previewed with a five-page back-up story in Marvel's Free Comic Book Day offering this May.

"This is every Spider-Man ever teaming up, or fighting each other," Slott said, adding later that readers will definitely see some "spider-fights." "Some won't get a long. It's a Spider-Man story on a scale we have never seen before. Epic in its scope."

[WRITER’S NOTE – I know that I am known for being a horrible speller, but even I know that ‘along’ is one word]

"Olivier Coipel is changed to a table drawing as we speak," Lowe said. "You can tell we're serious about it, because he's already working on it. It is incredible. It's huge and mind-boggling."

[WRITER’S NOTE – “changed to a table?”]

"The thing is, every Spider-Man ever wasn't enough," Slott added. "We're bringing in even more. New ones that you've never seen before."

Ok, that sounds cool and all…

Oprah: YOU GET A SPIDER-MAN! YOU GET A SPIDER-MAN! YOU GET A SPIDER-MAN!

We know, Oprah, go back to yelling at Lindsay Lohan.

As I was saying, that sounds cool and all, but why?

Asked about the villain of Spider-Verse, Slott said: "It's someone we haven't seen in spider-titles in a while, but whenever they show up, you're guaranteed a slobberknocker of epic proportions," Slott said, then naming the villain: Morlun, who's "part of an even bigger thing." Lowe called Morlun the "initial antagonist" of the story.

Wait a minute, this sounds really familiar. A crap ton of spider-men with a McGuffin as the "initial antagonist?" Hasn’t this been done before? It’s on the tip of my tongue…

Although not a sequel to Spider-Men (Slott says that’s all Bendis) Miles Morales will be involved in Spider-Verse, Slott and he and Peter will remember meeting each other.

Oprah: YOU GET A SPIDER-MAN! YOU GET A SPIDER-MAN! YOU GET A SPIDER-MAN!

I will murder you in your face if you don’t shut the fuck up right now, Oprah! Dammit, I lost my train of thought.

Marvel.com asks what the main battlefield of "Spider-Verse" will be.

Wait, Marvel.com gets to ask questions and we don’t!

Slott: "That would be telling. We're promoting a book that comes out in November."

In other words, expect BleedingCool to spoil in come June.

Oprah: YOU GET A SPIDER-MAN! YOU GET A SPIDER-MAN! YOU GET A SPIDER-MAN!

Fuck me! I need some vodka!

Next question, from ComicsBeat: Why Morlun? Slott said there are a lot readers don't know yet about Morlun, which makes him intriguing, and that he has a very high success rate in his past stories. "When he shows up, the readers' Spider-Sense goes off."

You know what, say what you will about JMS and his era of Spider-Man, I really liked the addition of Morlun and Ezekiel to the mythos.

Oprah: YOU GET A SPIDER-MAN! YOU GET A SPIDE…

BLAM!

What’s that? Nope, I didn’t hear anything.

Anyways, Spider-Verse’s promos look good, and Olivier Coipel as the artist, I expect that the story will as well. Other than that, there is just something about the story that reminded me of something I’ve read before that wasn’t all that good, almost as if it’s a “clone” of a bad story. If only I could remember what it was?
