Yes, this implies I knew there was to be a "Venom" movie.

Sony Pictures, in conjunction with 1992, is possibly thinking about maybe considering Carnage as the main villain in their Amazing Spider-Man spin-off Venom movie. The Venom movie was announced, and completely missed by this reporter, this past December, along with a Sinister Six project, would expand Sony’s Spider-Man universe much the same way Captain America and Avengers built on the Iron Man foundation.
Up until now, there was no inkling of what either movie would be about, but it seems that Venom, at least, has some direction:
Speaking with IGN, producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach made it clear they think including Carnage in the Venom film is “a great idea.”
“The idea of Venom and Carnage … [we're] taking it into consideration,” Tolmach said. “Watch out for this Venom movie. We’re crazy excited.”
Although those comments can’t quite be considered confirmation, they are enough for people to write articles that strongly suggest that they are.
Tune on later to the Outhouse as we follow these rumors with as much respect and seriousness we do everything else.
Writers' note: I totally used the banner image for this story as a 7th grade art project. Turned out pretty good, if I do say so myself.

RU, or as he’s known in the writers’ room: the cute one, is relatively unappreciated in his time. RU’s YouTube show, RUviews is watched by literally multiple people every month and his Outhouse articles have helped line many a bird cage. Before you send RU a message, he knows that there are misspelled words in this article, and probably in this bio he was asked to write. RU wants everyone to know that after 25+ years of collecting he still loves comic books and can’t believe how seriously fanboys take them. RU lives in Akron Ohio (unfortunately) with WIFE, ‘lilRuRu, and the @DogGodThor. You can also find him on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, & even Google+ (if anyone still uses that).
