Outhouse: The Last Comic Forum Standing

Or, you know, CBR could just be down. But where’s the fun in that?

Following steps Newsarama took in October 2008, The Outhouse made up an announcement from CBR announcing today that they would "update" their forum software to the easier to manage notgonnahappen program that allows mods to delete Facebook posts that upset publishers.

Critics of CBR find it rather convenient that the forums would be taken down so soon after the Eisner Award website was, again, caught coping and pasting pasting emails from their customers - comic book publishers - with no regard for content, common decency, and a level of basic fact checking Fox News would be proud of.

We here at The Outhouse – the last holdouts on an obsolete way of talking about things on the Internet – took the time to contact Chief Forum Moderator Hitler Teapot for more information.

OH: First of all, thank you Hitler for taking the time to sit down with us….not that I ever expected to say that sentence out loud.

Hitler: Thank you, but please, is there a non HeeBee around I can talk to.

OH: Yes, but he’s a black, gay Hawaiian with gypsy grandparents.

Hitler: ... ok then, you’ll do.

OH: Thanks….I guess. So, what’s the deal with the forums?

Hitler: Well, I could tell you that we are just upgrading our servers and whatnot to allow for a better flow of gas….information from publishers to our readers. But we all know that even if that were true, no one would believe me because my name happens to be Hitler.

OH: …And that you are an asshole.

Hitler: Well, there is that. But, truth be told, all of us here at CBR (Comic Book Reich) are really looking forward to this third incarnation of our philosophy of regurgitating anything we are told while at the same time letting our minorities tilt at windmills every few months to keep up the façade. This upgrade will give the High Command complete control of roughly 6,000,000 (or not, depending on whom you ask) accounts, including a built in filter that will “change all derogatory postings to ones that are glowingly positive.”

OH: Wow, that sure is something….

Hitler: I’d like to take the credit, but this really stems from actions taken last year by the CBR moderation staff to forcibly move anti DC propaganda away from decent hard working folk into its own thread, where they would have to sit and think about what they’ve done.

OH: One could say it’s a camp for concentration.

Hitler: I don’t get it.

There you go; CBR is upgrading their forums for tighter control.

Or, the forums are down because shit happens and this article will be relevant for 10 minutes max.

About the Author - GHERU

RU, or as he’s known in the writers’ room: the cute one, is relatively unappreciated in his time.  RU’s YouTube show, RUviews is watched by literally multiple people every month and his Outhouse articles have helped line many a bird cage.  Before you send RU a message, he knows that there are misspelled words in this article, and probably in this bio he was asked to write.  RU wants everyone to know that after 25+ years of collecting he still loves comic books and can’t believe how seriously fanboys take them.  RU lives in Akron Ohio (unfortunately) with WIFE, ‘lilRuRu, and the @DogGodThor.  You can also find him on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, & even Google+ (if anyone still uses that).
