Source: Disney and Marvel team up for super-powered sequel – Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes
During a live-streamed event today, Disney Interactive revealed what was teased previously, their new version of the popular video game/toy line: Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes!
Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes will serve as the launch of a new version (no, not Disney Infinity.NOW!) and is branded as a 2.0 version. This version will, unsurprisingly, introduce Marvel heroes to the Disney Infinity universe which currently consists of Disney and Pixar characters.
The new version will be compatible with the figures and power discs from the first version. Iron Man, Black Widow, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, and Hawkeye will be the debut figures with 20 new figures in all coming (you can see hints of who may be appearing in the trailer which included such characters as Nick Fury -- Blury version, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, and Spider-Man). You will also be able to play version 1.0 toyboxes in version 2.0. This new version will expand the playing field with the new environment: Marvel Manhattan (four times larger than the Incredibles play set from the first game). The new starter pack will also include 3 Marvel characters and 2 interactive game pieces. Original storylines for the game will be written by Brian Michael Bendis.
The Marvel characters have heroic abilities, similar to their Marvel comics counterparts. Hawkeye and Black Widow will be range characters, while Thor and Captain America will be the brawler type. Hulk with have a rage mode. Infinity 2.0 will increase the level cap to 20. There will be new Toy Boxes and the Toy Box mode will be made easier to use with brushes to create buildings, roads, dungeons, castles, and more.
Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes will be available for the Playstation 3 and 4, XBox 360 and One, NIntendo Wii U, PC, and iOS smartphones and tablets in Fall 2014.
