Lionsgate has announced that they are rebooting the Power Rangers franchise via a live-action film. The Saban franchise, a sort of remake of the Japanese TV show Super Sentai, has been running on various kid's programming stations for over twenty years, and recently celebrated its 20th anniversary.
According to a press release from Lionsgate, the new film will reinvision the Power Rangers as "a group of high school kids who are infused with unique and cool super powers but must harness and use those powers as a team if they have any hope of saving the world." No word on whether the Power Rangers monstrous mechanical Zords will be involved, but we're presuming its all but guaranteed.
While no director is currently attached to the film, we hear that Michael Bay is almost finished disfiguring the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie and would love to take a crack at making Megan Fox the Pink Ranger.
