Looks like that rumor from a couple of months ago was true! In that interview, Channing Tatum spoke about how much he loved Gambit and hoped he could play him in a movie.
Seems like X-Men movie producer Laura Shuler Donner was listening. When asked about who should play the loveable thief Gambit, she said "It's Channing". She also went on to describe Tatum:
" Well you know, he's a rogue -- Channing -- he's a rascal, just like Remy LeBeau, and he can handle the action, we all know that! And he's got a really good heart."
Sounds like it must have been an interesting audition.
Sources report that Gambit will make his next movie appearance (the character originally appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine played by Taylor Kitsch) in the movie after X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse; then go on to his own solo film (currently in development).
Can Tatum bring magic to the role or will it end up snake eyes? Time will tell but what do you, our rascally readers, think?
