Another month, another gratuitous variant cover gimmick from a major comic publisher. What's DC Comics have planned for August, following up on July's Bombshells gimmick?
That's right. Selfie variants. There's no images available yet, though there should be solicitations coming soon. Right now, all we've got is a list of the comics that will be getting Selfie Variants, which is, of course, a CBR EXCLUSIVE, because comics journalism always tastes the most delicious when served with a heaping side of sleazy payola relationship between website and publisher.
What's that, you say? Not even CBR would act like "DC Universe Selfie Variants" isn't the dumbest idea ever? Oh, reader. You have so much to learn:
Batman showing off his abs in front of a bathroom mirror? Superman and Wonder Woman enjoying mimosas at brunch? The Justice League gathering for a star-studded Ellen DeGeneres at the Oscars-esque group selfie? Aquaman showing off his sandy feet to brag that he's at the beach? Snapper Carr Snapchatting? It's an exciting time for the selfie-loving superhero fan.
An exciting time indeed. So yeah. Get ready for your favorite DC Comics superheroes to celebrate the most vapid and self-centered aspect of social media culture in the following books this Summer:
