On his Tumblr this morning, superstar Marvel writer "The Great One" Brian Bendis posted the cover to All New X-Men #32 by Sarah Pichelli, revealing that Ultimate Spider-Man Miles Morales will be joining the team.
The cover is an homage to the classic X-Men #139 cover by noted curmudgeon John Byrne, in which Kitty Pryde joins the team.
That cover and the phrase "Welcome to the X-Men, _____... hope you survive the experience!" has become a beloved cliche in both the X-Men mythos and geekdom in general (for instance, it's a phrase we like to use to welcome new posters to the Outhouse forums).
"The Great One" assured readers that the cover was real, and wished everyone a nice weekend. Isn't that nice? Bendis is one of The Outhouse's favorite people at Marvel for his redemption of Cyclops after his attempted character assassination during the pathetic Wolverine fan-fiction event comic, Avengers vs. X-Men. Like The Outhouse, "The Great One" understands that Wolverine is a terrible Mary Sue character who murders his own children and has no business being considered the moral center of the Marvel Universe, so who better to introduce a new member to the team? Bendis is the writer of Ultimate Spider-Man as well.
All-New X-Men #28 will be in stores on June 11. #32 will presumably be out in September.
Our friends at Nix Comics are sponsoring The Outhouse this week. Show them you appreciate it by checking out their comics. One dollar from every Nix Comics sold this month will go to Kirby-4-Heroes.
