It looks like rumors about Sonic the Hedgehog hitting the big screen in his own movie may be true. Hollywood Reporter is… reporting that Sony, producer Neal Moritz, and Marza Animation Planet will bring the Blue Blur to theaters.
For those who haven't haven't been exposed to culture since 1991, Sonic the Hedgehog has his origins in a video game by Sega. Since then, the tales of the fastest hedgehog alive and his adventures with friends and against the evil Dr. Eggman/Dr. Robotnik spread out to animated television series and a long running comic published by Archie Comics. He did make an appearance in Disney's Wreck-It Ralph on film, but now will get his own film. In hybrid animated/live-action form.
Hold on… Blue… Hybrid live-action…
Sony crew apparently hard at work making Sonic
Yeah, that's familiar territory for Sony.
*sigh* Well, those movies did make Sony some cash.
No release date has been given for the Sonic the Hedgehog film.
