USA Today ran an EXCLUSIVE interview with Tom Brevoort this morning about Marvel Comics' upcoming AXIS event, which will be written by Outhouse favorite Rick "Go Drown in Hobo Piss" Remender. In the interview, Brevoort revealed that AXIS will run nine issues and will ship three times a month in October, November and December. In addition, the event will crossover into several other books including Magneto, Loki: Agent of Asgard, Iron Man, and Rick Remender's Captain America and Uncanny Avengers.
One thing that wasn't mentioned in the interview was who or what would be drawing AXIS. While Jim Cheung has provided a couple of promotional pieces of artwork, he's yet to be confirmed as actually being involved with the event. We're presuming that USA Today asked about who'd be drawing the comic, causing Brevoort to track down a nearby hobo and have him piss into a cup until the interview moved on to another topic.
While Brevoort was keeping mum on who'd be providing art for the comic, he was damning the book with faint praise. "[AXIS is] kind of a Michael Bay movie. It's big and spectacular and has a ton of full-out bombast," Brevoort said. He also mentioned that Remender had been studying the dark arts of killing franchises with Bay for a month in preperation for the events, and that Remender had successfully mastered the art of sucking out a person's childhood during his studies.
Brevoort also stated that AXIS will center around the themes of brotherhood love, high-fives, hugs and cuddles and hinted that Iron Man might become a Nazi or something. "The Red Skull has seen things that Tony Stark is capable of, and seen value in them," Brevoort said after USA Today mentioned that Iron Man would be getting a status quo change in the event.
