Marvel Finds Cross-Branded Marketing Synergy With Samsung Product Placements

It's so sweet to see two young corporations in love!

Bad news for the Marvel Universe version of Apple. A report on Robot 6 this week revealed that Marvel has formed a partnership with Samsung, Apple's superhero arch-nemesis in the ongoing tech industry super-mega-crossover event, Patent Wars. As part of the deal, Samsung will get their phones, tablets, and smart-watches drawn into Marvel's comics, as "the world of Samsung mobile" will be "fully integrated" with the Marvel Universe on the page and on film.

"BLLLLLLLRRRRAAAARRRRGGLLLLGGGLLLLLLGGGLLLHHHH!" said a foaming-at-the-mouth Marvel Editor in Chief Axel Alonso when attempting to describe the news. Alonso routinely becomes extremely excited at the mere thought of anything Marvel does, so this Samsung deal may have been too much for him. We'll check back later.

On the kind of cool side, buyers of Samsungs next tablet, the Galaxy Tab S, will get three months of free access to the Netflix-like Marvel Unlimited digital comics service. This could be a huge opportunity to put Marvel comics in front of a lot of potential new readers, and the fact that the comics are mostly older means people might actually enjoy them. In addition, Samsung mobile users will get early sneak peaks at Marvel films, TV shows, and One-Shots.

It looks like this is a match made in heaven, folks. Just look at this quote from Samsung’s Younghee Lee in a statement about the deal:

Partnering with Marvel gives us the opportunity to bring our industry-leading mobile display technology to life. Through visual storytelling made possible by Marvel’s outstanding entertainment universe, Samsung’s Galaxy users will be able to enjoy the maximum of our product benefits.

Samsung and Marvel definitely speak the same corporate bullshit language. The Galaxy Tab S will be in stores in July, and the SAMSUNG UNIVERSE WILL NEVER BE THE SAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMEEE, BROTHER!
