Disney Publishing Worldwide has released a "creativity" app for platforms running iOS that lets you re-create and re-imagine scenes from the Star Wars saga. Disney describes this software, Star Wars Scene Maker, as a user-generated storytelling experience where you can "create, control, customize, capture, and share their own 3D animated Star Wars scenes".
The app contains 3D models of characters, vehicles, and items you can place in environments and adjust camera movements. On top of that you can add music and classic dialogue, with the option to record original dialogue. You can then save and share this scene online if you want to.
The first app in the Star Wars Scene Maker series is from the original trilogy. "The Battle of Endor" from Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi is free with the download of the Star Wars Scene Maker app, while other content packs ("Cloud City Duel" from Star Wars: Epsisode V The Empire Strikes Back" and "Death Star Trench Run from Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope) will be $2.99 each (or $3.99 for both announced expansions). Future expansions will include content from the upcoming animated Star Wars Rebels series.
Sorry fans, no prequel content has been announced yet, so you can make Jar Jar-less prequel scenes. On the plus side Han Solo's leg is okay in this app.
