Gilbert Hernandez, the famed indie cartoonist best known for his prolific work in Love and Rockets, is coming to DC Comics. Hernandez, also known as "Beto", will be writing and drawing a story in DC's digital Sensation Comics #3, featuring Wonder Woman. Sensation Comics is DC's newest digital-first title, and often features indie creators and other non-conventional writers writing out of continuity stories about Wonder Woman. This isn't Hernandez's first mainstream superhero work, nor is it his first work with DC. He previously wrote several issues of Birds of Prey in 2003, and several comics written and/or drawn by him were published by DC's Vertigo imprint.
DC's solicit for the issue notes that two stories will run in the issue, one about androids and one about Wonder Woman's "punk rock" days. If I were a betting man, I'd say that Hernandez is writing/drawing the punk rock story, given its influences in his other works. Sean E. Williams and Marguerite Sauvage will be writing and drawing the series that Hernandez isn't working on in Sensation Comics #3.
