Until then, expect him to bang women and only women, goshdarnit.
In one of those interviews which probably will come back to bite them in the ass, Constantine producer Daniel Cerone told reporters that NBC's version of the character would be a bisexual whose bisexuality wouldn't appear on screen. “In those comic books, John Constantine aged in real time,” Cerone said in a quote via EW. “Within this tome of three decades [of comics] there might have been one or two issues where he’s seen getting out of bed with a man. So [maybe] 20 years from now? But there are no immediate plans.”
But don't worry, Constantine fans, not only will his sexuality not get explored, his smoking habit (a key demonstration of his self-destructive tendencies) also won't be depicted. Cerone claims that, while NBC's Constantine will still be a smoker, network standards prohibit him actually smoking on screen.
I'm sure Constantine won't be a trainwreck that doesn't even last a full season, and I'm sure that fans of the character will love this TV show as much as they love the watered down DC version currently appearing in DC's eighth lowest "New 52" comic. So, here's to NBC depicting Constantine's bisexuality in 2034!
