In what can only be described as some sort of US Marshal Witness Protection employment program, BOOM! Studios promoted someone called Filip Sablik to President of Publishing and Marketing. We here at The Outhouse would lie to congratulate “Flip” on his promotion and wish him all the best. What does a President of Publishing and Marketing do? From CBR:
As the head of Publishing, Sablik manages BOOM!'s relationship with Diamond Comic Distributors for the Direct Market and International English language book trade; Simon and Schuster for the US book trade; HarperCollins Canada for Canadian book distribution; and Titan Distribution for the U.K. book market. In the digital space, Sablik oversees BOOM!'s relationships with ComiXology, iVerse, Overdrive, Follett, Kobo, Madefire, and Nook, among others. BOOM!'s relationships with their printing partners, licensing partners, and retail partners, along with new business development, also fall under Sablik's purview.
To be honest, I didn’t read all of that either.
PTB: RU, c’mon, he likes us. Don’t make fun of his name.
RU: Name [while making air quotes]
PTB: Stop it!
RU: No one’s name is “Flip!” That’s like someone saying that their favorite color is grey; it doesn’t happen.
RU: Aren’t we worried about blowing his cover in witness protection? CBR posted a picture, that can’t be legal.
PTB: That’s not even funny.
RU: Ohhhh, is he gay? Does he like men? We could totally hook him up with Wolf Blitzer….cause that’s a “real name” as well.
PTB: You done?
There’s a reason Filip Sablik is recognized as one of the most respected executives in the business," said BOOM! Studios CEO and Founder, Ross Richie. "The guy's a force to be reckoned with and has been instrumental to the company's growth and critical to our operational excellence as BOOM! expanded.
RU: I’m sorry, I can’t do this. I cannot take seriously a sentence that states that someone named “Flip” is respected. Can we all agree to call him “Mr. Sablik” instead?
PTB: Well, he did like us.
For more about whatever it is a President of Publishing and Marketing does all day, or more information about “Flip” head on over to CBR, they put a lot of work into their article.
EDIT - I have just been informed that I do not, in fact, know how to read and this gentleman's name is the perfectly normal and respectable "Filip "...because "Philip" is too mainstream. My bad.
