Source: Star Wars Rebels: Meet the Inquisitor, the Empire’s Jedi Hunter
When official news about Star Wars Rebels (outside of teasers) started to hit the internet, the first real character we saw was the Inquisitor. Images were shown and we learned that he was tasked by Darth Vader to hunt down the remaining Jedi.
Now, nine months later, we are getting more information about this character via a character video. The first thing that Pablo Hidalgo (Lucasfilm Story Group) wants you to know is that the Inquistor is not a Sith, however, he does have access to the Dark Side of the Force. He is described as a character who is cold and analytical and does not get emotional, but does have intensity driven by purpose. If the character does look familiar it is because his kind have been seen before. The Inquisitor is a Pau'an (from the cavernous planet of Utapau) first seen in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
In the new video, we get to hear the voice for the character. The Inquisitor will be voiced by Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, The Legend of Korra). Isaacs describes his character's job as simple, "to track down and kill Jedi or Jedi survivors, or people who have the Force." He knows of the Force and uses that knowledge against his prey (eg. Kenan ). The character will not be your weak villain-of-the-week, "When the Inquisitor shows up", Hidalgo says, "it means something, it's significant and it's a definite challenge to our heroes".
Star Wars Rebels premieres this Fall on The Disney Channel and continues on Disney XD.
