Dark Horse and Dynamite both announced new comics projects that will be written by Cullen Bunn, the famed writer/Twitter heckler of the Outhouse/ne'er do well. While the Outhouse may have forgotten to cover the news yesterday due to our known slacker status, we don't want Bunn to think that we're mad at him, and both these projects look pretty cool, so we're reporting on them now.
Bunn's project with Dark Horse is titled Harrow County. It's a creator owned "backwoods horror" series by Bunn and artist Tyler Crook about a teenage girl who discovers she has a connection to the ghouls, monsters and ghosts that surround her farm. Bunn has a knack for backwoods horror stories, probably because 1) he grew up in the backwoods and 2) he's a horror, so this will probably be an awesome comic that people will be talking about when it's released in spring 2015. CBR has an EXCLUSIVE interview with Bunn, so go over there and read it. The cover to the first issue can be found below. courtesy of CBR:
Dynamite, meanwhile, announced that Bunn would be writing up a sequel to the company's crossover series Masks, appropriately titled Masks II. The first Masks featured Dynamite's various pulp heroes, Green Hornet and his sidekick/partner Kato, the Shadow, the Spider and a few others team up to fight crime and stuff. We're presuming the Masks II will do the same, only with more explosions and bigger special effects. Cullen Bunn's a perfect writer for Masks II because he's 1) a good writer and 2) is an old fogey just like the readers of pulp comics, so he'll be a great fit on the title. Masks II will be released in late 2014.
This concludes all the Cullen Bunn announcements from yesterday. We're expecting that he'll have a few more projects announced this week, so stay tuned to the Outhouse, your exclusive home for Cullen Bunn news.
