Do you like spending your days in perpetual sadness? Do you like to spend hours on end regretting things that never happened. Well, you’re in luck. Gail Simone told her Twitter followers on Tuesday about a rejected proposal for a SHAZAM! anthology that would have been written by herself, Mark Waid, and Grant Morrison each tackling a different member of the Marvel Family.
Of all the comics projects that never happened, the one that makes me saddest was one we pitched years ago...a Shazam anthology book (cont)— Gail Simone (@GailSimone) July 22, 2014
With three stories each issue. Captain a Marvel by @markwaid, Junior by Grant Morrison, and Mary Marvel by me. Would have killed for that.— Gail Simone (@GailSimone) July 22, 2014
They didn't go for it because some new take on Shazam was coming that never happened anyway,— Gail Simone (@GailSimone) July 22, 2014
But can you imagine how fun that book would have been?— Gail Simone (@GailSimone) July 22, 2014
I like the new Shazam, great potential there. But will always be bummed we did not get to do that book.— Gail Simone (@GailSimone) July 22, 2014
DC turned down a proposal for a SHAZAM! anthology title written by Waid, Morrison, and SImone.
Let me repeat. DC turned down a proposal for a SHAZAM! anthology title by Waid, Morrison, and Simone.
For most fans, any one of these writers on a Marvel Family project would have been a dream come true. DC rejects a truckload of projects, but turning down this one really hurts for some reason.
