Fantagraphics announced this morning that they will be publishing an oversized collection of underground comix legend Vaughn Bodé entitled "The Big Book of Me". The collection will feature Bodé's Cheech Wizard character. Cheech Wizard appeared in magazines such as National Lampoon, as well as various underground comix over the decade.
Bodé passed away at the age of 33, but he's long been considered to be one of the major early members of the underground movement. According to Wikipedia, his art style was a major influence on the animated version of Lord of the Rings, and his art style and characters have frequently been connected with grafitti artists. Bodé was inducted into the Eisner Hall of Fame in 2005.
Like a lot of early underground comix artists, I'm not very familiar with Bodé's work. However, I look forward to Fantagraphics correcting that when The Big Book of Me is released in April 2015.
